About Us
Our Mission
Our mission at Reggio Academy is to provide children with the tools they need to develop a lifelong love of learning and education in a nurturing and safe place, their home away from home. These tools include interesting environments to explore, exceptional learning materials, appropriate social emotional guidance and support and opportunities to interact with the community. We believe that when children are appropriately supported in their early years, they grow to be compassionate, well rounded, intelligent adults and citizens.
Our Vision
Our Core Values
Protect each child’s unique childhood experience as it is an important state of the human life cycle.
Our school is “research based, evidence driven” and our work here is grounded in the latest research in child development.
We celebrate parents as their child’s first teacher and seek to strengthen the child and parent bond.
We celebrate each child’s unique family structure and culture and understand that each child can be better understood within those contexts.
We respect and celebrate the dignity, worth and uniqueness of each child, family member and colleague.
We celebrate and respect diversity, equity, and inclusion.
We build bonds and relationships of trust with each child, family member and colleague, fully recognizing that each individual needs the community to develop to their fullest potential.
Our Curriculum
Children must have some control over the direction of their learning.
Children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing.
Children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that they must be allowed to explore.
Children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.
Reggio teachers provide children different avenues for thinking, revising, constructing, negotiating, developing, and symbolically expressing their thoughts and feelings. The goal is for adults and children to better understand one another.
As children proceed in project work and investigations, generating and testing their hypotheses, they are encouraged to depict their understanding through one of many symbolic languages, including drawing, sculpture, dramatic play, and writing. They work together toward the resolution of challenges that arise.
Teachers foster children's involvement in the processes of exploration and evaluation, acknowledging the importance of their evolution and education.
Children construct their early knowledge through connections with their family, culture and the community.
Kindergarten Readiness
Reggio Academy implements academic programming to ensure all children have the foundational knowledge required to enter kindergarten and to have a successful experience. Our academic component includes Teaching Strategies Creative Curriculum. Progress for this program will be tracked and shared with parents at parent teacher conferences throughout the year. You may also inquire with your child’s teacher at any time when you have academic concerns or suggestions.
